Bailee!

by Mark on Jun.13, 2010, under Family

Jeremy, Ashley, and Bailee came over for the Redbirds game Friday night and stayed over after the game.  We got to spend some time with Bailee and take a few photos.

It was hard to get Bailee sit still for a photo and Ashley escaped altogether!  Maybe next time!

Lilah!

by Mark on Jan.17, 2010, under Family

David and Darah spent the afternoon in Memphis on Saturday.  We all took turns babysitting Lilah Elizabeth.  Don’t tell David and Darah but even the dog managed to get in a “kiss” before the day was over!

The Lost Christmas Card Pose

by Mark on Jan.11, 2010, under Family

Here’s the lost pose that we were going to use on our Christmas card.  I think we discarded this one because Savana our dog was missing.

Amazing that someone like myself has this good-looking of a crew!

Vacation Summary

by Mark on Sep.08, 2009, under Family

We finally made it home in one long drive.  It actually wasn’t too bad except for the snarl in Birmingham.  We will definitely go back some day.  Highlights were:

  • Savannah and all the history
  • Paula Deen’s Restaurant
  • The Crab Shack (we like to eat)
  • The Tybee Lighthouse
  • The beach (not crowded at all!)
  • Our Condo/house
  • Running on the beach

by Mark on Sep.04, 2009, under Family

Tate did this video from the Tybee lighthouse.  It was really funny due to our creative differences.  HA!

Is this R&R

by Mark on Aug.23, 2009, under Family

I was supposed to be able to spend this past week at home to catch up on work and a little R&R .  I was able to catch up on some work but the R&R, well, it didn’t happen.

Last Sunday was Jared’s graduation from the University of Memphis.  After graduation we took him and his friend Kate to Boscos for a late lunch only to figure out that Boscos had no clue how to serve people after 2:00 PM.  So in Mark Watson fashion, we left and I reminded them on the way out that all they really sell is service, of which they had none.  We went on down the road to Houston’s who is all about service.  They were covered up at 2:00 PM but seemed to enjoy five more patrons.

The rest of the week was spent on conference calls and trekking back and forth to my other facility in Batesville, Mississippi.  Long days and short nights.

I thought Saturday was shaping up to be a great day with perfect weather only to receive a call about 3:00 PM that Tate was being transported by ambulance from Lifetime Fitness to Collierville Baptist Hospital.  He went swimming with a friend and bumped his head on the slide and “knocked” himself out.

Everything turned out OK.  We were fortunate to meet the remaining Fire and Rescue team of both Germantown and Collierville (we know them all because of Tate).  He was released and came home in wet bathing suit, hospital gown, and skid resistant socks!

Next week in upstate New York is sounding better all the time!

Family

by Mark on Jul.07, 2009, under Family

Last weekend I attended a family reunion on my mom’s side of the family.  This is the first time we have been together in almost 20 years.  We used to meet at my uncles farm in Beech Grove, Arkansas for a day of fishing, horseback riding, and potlucking.  That ended when my aunt and uncle passed from this life.

Last Christmas one of my cousins kids, who was probably 8 or 9 years old at our last reunion, decided he wanted to resurrect the family gathering.  So he along with some of the other family pulled it off.  It was a great event.

In attendance were two of my mom’s sisters, all 80 and above.  One who still swims 20 laps at the YMCA 3 times per week.  All but 3 of my cousins were present and all of their kids with the exception of one who is living in New York City.

At one point during the reunion I was thinking about all my family and how it equates to Gods children.  My family pretty much represents the world.  We pretty much have a sampling of every race, gender, religion, and sexual orientation and I love every one of them.  They’re family.

Obviously we as a family all love each other, how much more does God love all of us?
