One Year Bible – Week of 2/7
by Mark on Feb.13, 2010, under Faith
Stacie and I had a difference of opinion on our readings this week. She thought they were boring and I thought the opposite. She didn’t like reading about all the rules given to Moses by God and reading about all the formality of the tabernacle. I had a different take. I didn’t read it from the point of all the rules. I read it from the point that God was letting us in on His personality. One thing that I found really awesome about God is that He loved a barbecue! “. . . a pleasing fragrance before God” Exodus 29:15-18.
This weeks readings came from Exodus 28-40, Act 1-6, and Proverb 6-10:16. Highlights include the following:
- The institution of the Priesthood through Aaron and his sons
- God loving the smell of an offering
- Urim and Thummim stones
- The law given on Mount Sinai to Moses
- Instructions and building of the Tabernacle, including the furnishings
- The beginings of the early church in Acts
- Replacing Judas, Jesus betrayer, with Mathias
- Casting lots for Judas replacement
- The power and importance of the Holy Spirit
What a contrast of all the old laws and rules with the simplicity at the beginning of the early church!
