Learning Not to Lead

by Mark on Jun.23, 2009, under Leadership

At the end of this month I am officially no longer an Elder at Grace Crossing.  Due to uncertainty with my job and the fact that our bylaws state that Elders must take sabbatical every four years, I asked for this to be my term.  The difference for me –  it is a resignation not a sabbatical.

The past four years overall has been a very rewarding but humbling experience.  Sure there’s things I won’t miss – such as living my life in a fishbowl and some of the stinging criticisms.  But things I will miss are putting together strategic plans and implementing vision.

I’ve spent my whole life learning to lead.  Now I’m learning not to lead.
